Diane Rae Wimmer

SUN PRAIRIE—Diane Rae Wimmer, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 10:06PM from a long battle of COPD and congestive heart failure.  She was born on June 15, 1944, in Rockford, IL to Bud and Irene (Machmueller) Weaver.

Diane’s work took her into the healthcare field for many years including the Red Cross, UW Hospital, and Hospice care (DeForest, WI).  In the last 15 years, she worked at Costco in Middleton as a Member Service greeter.  She was affectionately known as the “Best Dressed Costco Employee Ever!”

In her free time, Diane enjoyed gardening and organizing her home.  She loved to take her dogs for walks around the ponds in Middleton.  Diane excelled in the kitchen, and she loved to cook and bake.  Her appreciation for Japanese art often brought her to the Japanese art festivals in Madison on the square.  

Diane never passed up an episode of Little House on the Prairie, Untold Stories of the ER, and Highway to Heaven on television.  She regularly tuned in to watch Star Trek: Next Generation and The A Team daily as well, and her all-time favorite movie was “The Godfather.”  She was fascinated by the vintage homes and cars she saw on these shows.

Diane was devoted to her family.  She did whatever was necessary to keep the family together.  She was truly adored and cherished by her family throughout the decades and the family will continue to keep her memory alive in their hearts forever.  She is survived by her two children: Laurie D. Wimmer and Brad B. Wimmer and many dear friends. 

There are no services scheduled at this time as the family has decided to celebrate Diane’s life during a private event.
