Diane E. Hensen

Mom was born on March 6, 1941 to Mathew and Lucy (Kalscheur) Hellenbrand.  She graduated from Waunakee High School in 1959.  Diane married Robert H. Hensen on September 26, 1961 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waunakee.  They were married for 62 years.  She is survived by her husband Bob; children, Dean (Jill) Hensen, Carrie (Dan) Sutton, Dale (Carlyn) Hensen; three granddaughters, Samantha (Adam) Lorenz, McKenzie (Andrew) Endsley, and Carly Sutton; and a great-grandson, Jack Lorenz.
 
Diane truly loved being with her family, especially her granddaughters!  She enjoyed knitting afghans, baby blankets, and wash cloths and giving them away as gifts.  
 
Our loving and wonderful Mom taught us:  Love with your whole heart & unconditionally; Don’t come or go without a hug or doing a silly dance; Work hard and it’ll work out; Get on the floor and play with your grandchildren (even if you fall asleep while playing daycare); Light up in delight when you see your loved ones; Have your kids’ and grandkids’ favorite meals & desserts on hand when they visit; Be kind and fair; Always be up for an adventure or a celebration; Paint your fingernails a pale pink; Watch your loved ones out your front window when they drive away; It’s good to laugh at yourself.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St John’s Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
