Diane Amelse

SUN PRAIRIE -Diane D. Amelse, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison surrounded by her family. She was born May 26, 1943, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin; the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Kastel) Esser. Diane grew up on a dairy farm near Boyd, Wisconsin and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic School in Boyd and Cadott High School. She was united in marriage to Richard Amelse, the love of her life for 52 years on October 12, 1963, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Boyd. Diane worked for Goodyear in Sun Prairie for 27 years retiring in 2001. She represented Goodyear and her local union as a loaned executive to the United Way of Dane County in 1990. She was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary 333.

Diane enjoyed spending time with her family; traveling, boating and fishing up in northern Wisconsin. She looked forward to her trips to Las Vegas and playing Euchre with her husband and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Amelse; her children, Adrian (Donna) Amelse and Deborah Amelse; her three grandchildren, Andrea, Danielle and Brian, a great-granddaughter, Malina, a sister, Lavonne (Darrell) Horne, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at SACRED HEARTS OF JESUS AND MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 221 Columbus St., Sun Prairie on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with Msgr. Duane Moellenberndt presiding. Burial will follow at Sacred Hearts Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
