Derek James Miller, age 51, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, April 7, 2018. He was born on October 25, 1966, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was the son of James E. and Evelyn May (Glenn) Miller. Derek was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Baguio at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in West Mount, Illinois on June 23, 1995. Together they celebrated 22 years of marriage and raised one daughter, Victoria Olea.

Derek graduated in 1984 from Waubonsie High School and then attended the University of Illinois and College of DuPage in Illinois. After college, Derek enlisted in the Army Reserves. During his earlier days, Derek was in "Boy Scouts" where is dad served as his scoutmaster. His experience with being a scout led him to volunteer and give back his time to the community. He enjoyed volunteering for Friends of Madison and other various community organizations. He had a great sense of humor and a big heart. He loved to cook meals for his family and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Michigan Wolverines.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mary; his daughter Victoria Olea; his mother Evelyn; his sister Stacy (John) Vigil; his mother in law Eleanor Baguio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father James E. Miller and father in law Fedencio Baguio.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint Albert the Great Catholic Church, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 11:00 am with Monsignor Donn Heiar presiding. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church.

Derek was a wonderful husband, dad, son and brother and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
