Delma Steffensrud

October 25, 1926 — February 17, 2014

Madison - Delma B. Steffensrud, n�e Nyhus, passed away peacefully on Monday February 17, 2014, at Meriter Hospital after a brief illness. She was 87, and a long-time member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Delma grew up on the farms of Green and Dane County, attended high school in Mt. Horeb, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She married her husband, Walter Steffensrud, at the Little Brown Church in Iowa, worked for the City of Madison personnel department, and volunteered for her church and daughter's schools. In her later years, she enjoyed reading, time with her grandchildren, and the companionship of a dedicated network of volunteers and caregivers who enabled her to live independently despite a lengthy battle with rheumatoid arthritis.

Delma was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, and two grandsons in Maryland, and three nieces and a nephew and their families in Wisconsin and California.

Memorials may be made to the Bethel Lutheran Church Media Ministry or the Arthritis Foundation.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday February 22, 2014 at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH,312 Wisconsin Ave. Madison, with Rev. Alison Williams presiding. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. A visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.
