Debra K. Snyder

Debra Kay Snyder, at 66, passed away peacefully with her daughter and nieces (known as the Three Stooges) by her side, in her home, after being recently diagnosed with a progressive cancer.  She was born August 4, 1957, to Ivan and Jeannette Legler.

Debbie grew up on a farm and attended Belleville High School.  After high school she married the love of her life Ritchie Snyder on June 25, 1977; they were married for 47.5 years. Together they enjoyed traveling, going on drives, and they loved trying new things.

She had her CDL, drove truck, and worked as a flagger.  She found her calling at Local 464 where she was employed for 22 years, retiring in June 2022.  She still enjoyed attending Union meetings after retirement.

Debbie was extremely passionate about the many hobbies she had.  Some of her passions over the years include her baking skills: cake decorating, making gingerbread houses, panoramic sugar Easter eggs and candy making.  She also enjoyed making stain glass, photography, wood working, scuba diving, leather making, and made the “Snyder’s” best wine.  But she was mostly known for her green thumb and spending time in her beloved greenhouse amongst the plants.  Debbie loved being barefoot working in her yard on landscaping or in one of her many gardens.  She was master at everything she did. And she really loved spending time with family and friends in the greenhouse, all year round.

Debbie is survived by her children April (Ryan) McConnell, Mitch (Tracy) Snyder; grandchildren: Griffen (Abbie), Zada, Anechia and Boe McConnell, Devin and Owen Snyder; Sam and Harlie Voseberg and Trey Crist; great grandchildren: Vienna, Arayia, Phoenix and Ruby; siblings: Patricia Schultz, Ivan "Butch" Legler, Marie (Brian) Salisbury, Donald Legler; sister-n-law’s Kim (Garry Burns) Snyder and Lisa Legler; nieces/nephews: Crystal (John) Viney, Connie Schultz, Candee (Jay) Christen, Cindy (Mike) Wimmer, Shane Legler, Missy (Scott Davis) Salisbury, Tami Legler, Kari (Ty) Runyan;16 great nieces/nephews; and 6 great-great nieces/nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ivan and Jeannette Legler; husband Ritchie; brother, Kevin Legler; sister-n-law, Peggy Legler; brother-n-law Carl Schultz; nephew Heath Aaron Salisbury; and niece-in-law Tonya Legler.

We want to thank all the staff at Agrace for their kind and loving care.  Thank you to Megan and Lindsey who spent the most time caring for Debbie.  And a big recognition to Debbie’s daughter, April, who never left her mother’s side during the end of her life.
