Debra Herr

Debra "Deb" Herr, age 60, died on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at her home surrounded by her husband and daughters. She was born in Madison on March 20, 1952 to Henry "Bud" and Jeri (Knipshield) Zander. She graduated from Waunakee High School and later graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing and recently retired from St. Mary's Hospital. Deb Zander married Dan Herr October 13, 1973 and were looking forward to celebrating their 39th anniversary this year.

Deb was involved in her many family activities (Girl Scouts, camping trips, condo association) and her nursing career. She very much enjoyed her summers boating with her family and friends, Hummel collecting and other hobbies. Deb was proud to be a nurse for the past 40 years at St Mary's and stayed very active with committees and teaching CPR. Every holiday season Deb looked forward to her annual bell ringing with her close friends. Deb will always be remembered for her helping hand and her warm and contagious smile.

Survived by her husband Dan; and her "puppies" Remington and Sider, three daughters, Michelle (Steve) Bohl, Nicole (David) Albert and Danielle (special friend Chris Joseph) Herr; four grandchildren, Madeline and Ethan Bohl and Cade and Cole Albert; her father Henry "Bud" Zander; four sisters, Diane Strait, Linda (John) Beck, Lori (Tom) Hadfield and Lisa (Ken) Grueneberg; her father-in-law Vernon Herr; brother-in-law Larry (Kathy) Herr; and sister -in-law Kim (David) Wahl; and many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and wonderful friends;

She was preceded in death by her mother Jeri; her mother-in-law Annabelle Herr; and a sister-in-law Sue Herr, and her infant brother Henry Michael Zander.


Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 209 South St.,Waunakee. Rev. David Johannes will officiate. Friends may call at Winn-Cress Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. A reception will follow at Rex's Innkeeper in Waunakee.
