Deborah Lynn Hoffman

Deborah L. Hoffman left this earth on January 9 th, 2026. Deb – also known as D’vorah Dinah – was born on March 5, 1961 in Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by parents Heinz (a Holocaust survivor) and Marcia Shechtman Hoffman. She is survived by sisters Karen and Aileen and brother Gary; her nieces Michal Hoffman, Aliza Tor, Shoshana Hoffman, Shifra Hoffman, Yael Hoffman and nephew Eitan Hoffman; her lifelong friend Carolyn Sigall of California.

Deb received a BA in Journalism from University of Wisconsin in 1984. She devoted 44 years to Madison’s Beth Israel Center teaching and overseeing youth groups. Generations of synagogue youth learned countless skills and other life lessons from Deb.

Funeral services will be held at Beth Israel Center on Sunday, January 11 at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Deb’s name can be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS), the Youth Fund at Beth Israel Center The Youth Fund at Beth Israel (option 09), or the charitable fund of your choice.
