Dean Silbaugh

Dean W. Silbaugh, age 84, of Stoughton, WI, passed away on August 14th, 2026 surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 3rd, 1941 in Stoughton, WI to Ray and Lillian Silbaugh. Dean graduated from Stoughton High School in 1960. In October of 1961, Dean married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Felio. Together, they built a life full of love and family.

Dean served his country in the US Army. Following his military service, he pursued a career in Mechanical Engineering, where he worked for over 50 years. One of his proudest achievements was earning his Professional Engineering license in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois.

Dean was a self-taught musician who played guitar, banjo, fiddle, and many other musical instruments. Additionally, as a gifted woodworker, he built his own acoustic guitars as well as many family keepsakes.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sharon; their children, Jeff (Mary Ellan), Warren (Holly), and daughter-in-law Amy Silbaugh; his grandchildren, Robert, Adam, Ben, Kassidy, Kennedy, Chloe, Josie, and Jake; and great-grandchildren Reggie, Makenna, Hoyt, Rudy, and Raylynn.

He was preceded in death by his two sons, Todd and Shawn Silbaugh; his parents, Ray and Lillian Silbaugh; in-laws, Leander and Alda May Felio; brothers, Rudy and Dennis Silbaugh; and brothers-in-law, Kurt Felio and Wayne Maerz.

A funeral with military honors will be held on August 26th, 2026, at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect St., Stoughton. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Dean will be laid to rest at Lutheran South Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Otis Sampson American Legion at 12:00 p.m.
