David Siewert

Madison - David A. Siewert, age 57, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, surrounded by family and loved ones. Dave amazed and inspired all who knew him with the strength and spirit with which he faced terminal cancer. Dave was born in 1958 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Arthur and Agnes Siewert. He graduated from Wausau West High School and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He worked for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for 25 years. Knowing he had only a limited time to live, Dave, along with his wife, fulfilled a life-long dream of exploring many of the National Parks in the Western United States, taking beautiful pictures of the natural wonders he encountered.

Dave was an avid bicyclist, logging countless miles in his beloved farmland around Madison as well as across town to work for years. He enjoyed nothing more than to ride his bike in the countryside.

Dave is survived by his wife, Alice Siewert; brother, Kenneth Siewert (Alice); nephews, Kurt and Darren; and niece, Jennifer and their loving partners and children. He will be remembered for his genuine goodness, his sense of humor and positive attitude.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Cress Center, 6021 University Avenue, Madison, with a visitation from 12 noon until the time of service.
