Waunakee-David L. Muetz, age 65, passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2012, with his wife and beloved dog "Buddy" at his side. He fought cancer once and won 8 wonderful years but a second round was not to be. Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Viet Nam War. He worked for the Dept. of Transportation retiring in 2003 after 33 years of service. He came out of retirement for a few more years at the same job. Enjoyment for Dave was anything to do with classic cars. If he wasn't working on one, he was looking at them in magazines. During the summer, his garage door was wide open and he welcomed anyone who was passing by to stop in. The year 2010 was an especially good year because he completed his bucket list. He had the wife and dog already so it was the 62 Corvette that completed a life's dream. Dave is survived by Nancy, his wife; step-daughter, Dawn (Travis) and her family; mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Acker; in-laws, Karen (Larry) Cox, Diane Ziegler, Jack (Mickey), Gary (Eva), Alan (Karen) Ziegler, Cindy (Clyde) Hellenbrand and Jean (Gary) Hansen; numerous nieces and nephews and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey & Lucille (Baltes) Muetz, many aunts, uncles and cousins; in addition, his fathers-in-Law, Vincent Ziegler and Sylvester Acker, brothers-in-law, Kenneth and Roger Zielger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St., Waunakee. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial with full military rites conducted by the Waunakee Area Veterans will be held in the church's cemetery. Special thanks to the guys at the shop, folks at UW Cancer Center for the support and to the Waunakee Police, EMS & Fire Dept. for their special help.
