David Minko

June 12, 1966 — August 15, 2013

Sun Prairie - David Minko was taken from us on Thursday, August 15, 2013, in a motorcycle accident on his journey home from work to be with his happy, fun-loving and close-knit family. David was only 47 years young, and he leaves behind three children, Jack, Grant, and Clark, and his fianc�e Dora and her two children, all of whom were the greatest joys and guiding forces in his engaging and vibrant life on this earth. David was previously married to Kris J. Minko, whom he divorced in 2012. He is also survived by his mother, Charlotte Minko, and his brother, Wally Minko.

David served with distinction in the U.S. Military, serving 9 years in the U.S. Navy as a Nuclear Power Plant Operator and Instructor, and 5 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Resource Analyst, from which he was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain. David was awarded the U.S. Navy's highest commendation for adult education and training methodology and results ("Master Training Specialist") at Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, New York, in 1992. David was a Distinguished Graduate of the Air Force Manpower and Federal Budget School in 1995, at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. David was recognized and commended by the Pentagon for developing strategies to meet rapidly evolving human resource requirements in time of war in 2002, at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia.

David received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resources Management in 1992 from the New School for Social Research, New York, New York, and he received his law degree in 2003 from William and Mary School, Marshall Wythe Law School, Williamsburg, Virginia. Prior to becoming a partner with Heins & Minko LLC in Mequon, Wisconsin, David practiced law as a partner at Murphy Desmond and Melli Law, both in Madison, Wisconsin. David served on the District 9 Committee of the Office of Lawyer Regulation. David was named a Super Lawyer Rising Star for the years 2010 - 2013.

Friends may call on Friday, August 23, 2013 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, from 4-7 p.m.

David's children will welcome family and friends at a memorial service on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, with Pastor Cal Steiner officiating. In celebration of their dad, the boys will be dressed in casual attire, so please feel free to do the same.
