David L. Hyatt, 75, of Waunakee, WI and Eldridge, AL, passed away surrounded by loved ones on May 20, 2014. He fought a courageous battle of lung cancer that took him from us way to soon. He was born, October 14, 1938, in Madison, WI to Gilbert and Louise (Gander) Hyatt. He studied to become a brother at the Divine Word Missionaries, Techny, IL, upon leaving there graduated from Waunakee High School. And later settled and raised his family there. He retired after working for the UW Hospital after 20 years. For the last 11 years he has enjoyed wintering in Eldridge, AL, avoiding Wisconsin winters and enjoying time with family and friends there.
He walked faithfully with God counting his many blessings daily. He was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Dave was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus and the Knights of Columbus Clowns. He also enjoyed volunteering flipping burgers for the church festival, pancake breakfast and weekend roller skating program. He enjoyed gardening/farming, midget and nascar races, RV camping, time with family and friends, and making fudge at Christmas. He never found a chocolate chip cookie he didn't like.
His many blessings include his first love Ruth of 31 years, and his 2nd first love Kathy of 22 years and loved them both unconditionally. Also 5 children Diane Kuehn (Bellevue, NE), Judy (Michael) Heinrichs (Waunakee), David (Joan) Hyatt, Jr. (Waunakee), Jean (Don) Droster (Madison), Richard Hyatt (Lodi), two step children Stuart (Joan) Clifcorn (Madison), Denise (John) Higgins, (Deerfield); 14 grandchildren Zach and Kyle (Megan)Kuehn, Jenna (Mike) Wright, Jackson Heinrichs, David (Katherine) Hyatt, Jeremy Hyatt, Brandon Theobald, David Klinker, Genie Caraway (Steve), Cory and Amber Clifcorn, Nathan McCalister-Higgins, Katie and Miles Higgins; 4 great grandchildren Evelyn Mauk, Mickelia, Mya and David Hyatt Jr. He is also survived by siblings Joe(Sue), Mary, Butch (Mary Lou), Tony (Sally) Hyatt. In-laws Joan Hyatt, Mike Brymer, Clifford (Diane) Stark, and Mary Ann Witt, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife Ruth, a granddaughter Ashley Hyatt, daughter-in-law Linda Alred, a brother John Hyatt and a sister Linda Hyatt.
A Memorial service will be held on Sat. May 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St John's Catholic Church, 209 South St. Waunakee. Msgr. James Gunn will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Sat. from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery
You have been a solid brick in our lives Dear One. Your walk thru life's ups and downs has been a model for us all. You will be sorely missed but in our hearts forever and we love you so!
