Daniel Schiedermayer

January 3, 1983 — May 10, 2017

MIDDLETON-Daniel Mark Schiedermayer died peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. He was born in Milwaukee on January 3rd, 1983 and grew up in Wauwatosa where he and his friends cracked each other up and snowboarded off roofs. In 2006 Dan received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he met the love of his life and future wife, Clare VanderWoude. He worked as a pharmacist at the UW Hospital, using his time off after night shifts to dive into his hobbies which were numerous, among them: hunting, shed-hunting, biking, and tracking and skijoring with his dogs. Dan was handsome, smart, funny, humble, loyal, and generous to a fault. He loved being with his friends, being outside, and he hoped to retire by 40. He died in the tender care of his family at his home in Middleton from the glioblastoma he was diagnosed with in December, 2015.

Dan is survived by his wife, Clare; parents, Dave and Kim Schiedermayer; brother Jon and sister-in-law Becky Gelinas; sister Ellie and brother-in-law Sam McColley; mother-in-law Cynthia VanderWoude; grandparents Larry Schiedermayer and Mabe Grummer; brothers-in-law Eric VanderWoude and Alvaro Lara; brother-in-law Alec VanderWoude; and his German Shepherd, Summer. Dan is preceded by his grandparents, Arnold Grummer and Audrey Schiedermayer; and Clare's parents, Pam Ryan and Dick VanderWoude. A Celebration of Life-Well-Lived will be held Thursday, May 18 at Governor Nelson State Park, gathering at 3:30PM with remarks beginning at 4:30PM. Memorial Gifts can be made in Dan's name to the UW Neuro Oncology Fund, 600 Highland Ave., Rm. K-4/534, Madison, WI 53792, Attn: Ian Robins.
