MADISON- Daniel J. Dowd, 89, died Monday, October 16, 2017 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born in Janesville on July 2, 1928, to parents James and Rosella (Richards) Dowd. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, graduated from Michigan State University, and served as a Janesville P.D. Officer. Later he worked at the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory as a Fingerprint Examiner and eventually served as the Director of the Madison Crime Lab. He met his future wife, Sally, at the lab and they have been married for over a century.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Sally; and brothers Richard (Linda) and James (Rachel) Dowd. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Pat (Sister Shamus) and Kate (Daniel) Roherty; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved pets.
A private burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison.
