Daniel Clavette

Daniel John Clavette, age 65 passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on April 11, 1948 in Milwaukee, the son of Delbert John and the late Jean Marie (Gentz) Clavette. He lived in West Bend for many years and in Sun Prairie since 1987. Daniel is a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War. He served on air craft carriers - the USS Hornet (the one that picked up the Astronauts from Apollo 11 and 12); and the USS Oriskany.

He was united in marriage to Jean Meidl in Las Vegas on September 28, 2001. Daniel worked in sales for Data Financial Business Services in Mequon for 25 years until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of the VFW Post 9362 and the American Legion Post 333. Daniel enjoyed fishing and spending time at their trailer on Crystal Lake.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie; daughter, Jean (Drew) Graves of Fort Polk North, LA; sons, Sam (Jaima) of Stillwater, MN and Ben (Angie) of Verona; step-daughters, Jenny (Mike) Kravick of Cambridge and Tiffany (Mark Willard) Zimmerman of Moline, IL; grandchildren, Baker, Nolan, Avalyn, Trinity, Madisen and Mya; father Delbert of Hubertus; siblings, Mike (Julie), Paul (Kathy) all of Milwaukee, Thad (Val) of Massachusetts, Jill Werderman of Adell, WI, Pat Clavette of Hartford, Jim (Barb) of West Bend, and John (Sheri) of Waukesha; father-in-law, Merton Gunnelson of Cottage Grove; and brother-in-law, Jim (Christine) Gunnelson of Sun Prairie. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Marie.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013 beginning at 1 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, Sun Prairie. A time for eulogies and military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. with a continued celebration luncheon at the Sun Prairie VFW Post 9362, 349 S. Walker Way.
