Corinne Fauerbach

March 24, 1926 — September 3, 2015

Corinne Carol (Schmitz) Fauerbach, age 89, of Madison, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born on March 24, 1926 in Madison, the daughter of David and Christine (Statz) Schmitz. Corinne attended Doty School and St. Raphael's Cathedral School, graduating from Edgewood High School in 1944. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, David William Fauerbach, on September 14, 1946 at St. Raphael's Cathedral, Madison.
Corinne and Dave instilled in their children a love of music, and Corinne was an avid opera fan. Every Saturday afternoon the Texaco-sponsored opera, broadcast live from the New York Metropolitan Opera, could be heard throughout the house. Corinne also loved ballet, starting out as a ballerina herself in grade school, studying at the Kehl School of Dance for many years.
Corinne had a strong faith in God and was a devout Catholic. St. Raphael Cathedral was central to Corinne's life; there she was baptized, confirmed, married, and sang in the finest choir to be found anywhere, conducted by Ray Dvorak. In later years, Corinne and Dave went on a tour of Europe with her church choir, where they sang in churches in several cities including Budapest, Prague, and Rome. They also had the opportunity to return to various locales where Dave served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Corinne and Dave's marriage was a sixty-year romance, and Corinne's passing on the third of September served as the exclamation point, for that was Dave's birthday, and what better birthday present could one ask for? Corinne and Dave - reunited for Eternity.
Corinne was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and a woman of great style and grace. She and Dave loved to entertain and often opened their home to family and friends. A get together became a party when Dave played the banjo accompanied by Corinne's lovely voice.
Corinne is survived by her children: William (Amalia) Fauerbach; Carol Fauerbach; Neil (Marianne) Fauerbach; James (Therese) Fauerbach; and David Fauerbach (Inga Roth-Kennedy) of Madison; and grandchildren: Michelle Winch; Jacob Winch; Colleen Fauerbach; Erin Fauerbach; Amy Winch; John Fauerbach; and Katie Fauerbach. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law Mary Fauerbach and Christine Schmitz; and many nieces and nephews.
Corinne looked forward to a joyous reunion in Heaven with her beloved husband, Dave. She was preceded in death by her parents David and Christine Schmitz; brother Donald "Smitty" Schmitz; brothers and sisters-in-law: Philip and Dawn Fauerbach, Walter and Margaret Fauerbach, Edward and Alice Fauerbach, Richard Fauerbach, Mary and Jack Spohn, and Ann and Ralph Gibson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Avenue, Madison at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 with Monsignor Michael Burke officiating.
