Constance Roberta Barnes Fox passed away on November 12, 2024 from heart failure. She was born to Robert H. and Christine Amalia (Legreid) Barnes on August 15, 1947 at St. Mary’s hospital in Madison, WI. Connie was baptized, confirmed, and married at Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison WI.
Connie graduated from Madison West High class of 1965. She attended UW-LaCrosse and UW-Madison and graduated from Madison Business College with a BBA. During college, she worked at LaCrosse and Dane County Airports for Avis.
Her first trip to Europe (Norway, Sweden, and Denmark) was in 1960 with her parents and brother, David. It was a great experience for all. In 1968, she traveled to Europe with Marie Boynton of Milton, WI, to observe the Winter Olympics. After college, she worked for the Wisconsin Division of Tourism and as an accountant for TDS, and then for a number of years for Terry Monson Construction. From 1979-1989 she was a salesperson for E.Z. Gregory Company.
Her recreation time was spent horseback riding, bicycling, hiking, downhill skiing, tennis, and attending Jazz Festivals. Since 1984 she was on the Board of the Madison Jazz Society and Treasurer of the group! Connie met the love of her life, Stan Fox (passed 2014) from New Jersey. They married at Bethel Church, Madison, on April 22, 1989 and then moved to New Jersey. Three years later, they returned to Dodgeville and built a home in the country. The home was built by Monson Construction.
A celebration of life will be held this spring 2025. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory can be made to the American Red Cross, 4860 Sheboygan Ave Madison, WI, or the “Madison Jazz Society Scholarship Fund”, c/o:
