Cross Plains: Following a courageous battle with cancer, Connie Mae Housner passed away at age 66 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Across nearly 40 years of marriage, Connie and Roger Housner built a life together in their Cross Plains home where they proudly raised three sons and watched them grow into the men they are today. It's a special place that holds the family's most treasured memories. Many of those memories were shared over one of Connie's famed home-cooked meals that oftentimes concluded with her legendary pistachio torte, or on their backyard deck which they frequently welcomed close neighbors and friends for gatherings. Connie was always at the center of what made their home so special and those blessed enough to have known her, know why.
A devoted mother and wife, Connie was born on May 12, 1948 in Appleton. She was the daughter of Doug and Doris Moericke. Following graduation from Baraboo High School, Connie pursued a career as a Dental Assistant after completing MATC's Dental Assistant Program in 1970. Five years later, on May 24, 1975, Connie and Roger were married at Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Appleton.
Outside of the many hats she wore for the family, Connie's compassionate and nurturing character shined through in her community as a volunteer for Cross Plains Elementary School and Cross Plains Library. She was also a teacher's assistant at the boys' elementary school for a number of years. Connie loved to read fiction stories and cared intently for her flower gardens. She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison.
Connie is survived by her husband Roger, sons Ryan (Kate), Chad and Ross (Lindsay); her mother Doris Moericke of Appleton; brothers Steve (Joni) and Doug (Ellen), and nieces Kya, Larkin and Stacy. She was preceded in death by her father, Doug Moericke, and nephews Austin and Mark Moericke.
