Madison- Colleen “Coky” Joy Klimpel, age 85, died peacefully in her sleep Friday, September 27, 2024 after a wonderful long life.
Colleen was born in Minot, North Dakota on February 6, 1939 to Harry and Joyce Morstad. She was an active Angel starting with membership with the class of 1991. Colleen and Don started their lives together as high school romance in 1957. One year later she decided to return to Minot State College and pursue a degree in home economics.
Colleen and Don were united in marriage on June 2, 1962. Together they moved to Fargo, North Dakota so Don could attend pharmacy school. Colleen worked at Morehead Minnesota Library. They moved to Kentucky once Don was finished with school. One year after moving to Kentucky they settled in Madison in 1967.
Colleen enjoyed traveling with the University travel group to many countries over the years which she enjoyed. She enjoyed playing Bridge with friends for over 50 years and loved every minute of it. Colleen enjoyed her Norwegian Gudrid reading circle and loved the members. Colleen and Don enjoyed spending time at their condo in Fish Creek. They were active members of Midvale Community Lutheran Church and enjoyed spending time with parishioners.
Colleen’s final years were spent at Attic Angel Community in Madison. In the weeks leading up to her death she was surrounded by family and friends who visited, talked, laughed, and reminisced with her about love and friendships, joy, and fun they shared over her lifetime. Family was central to Colleen’s existence.
Colleen is survived by her dedicated husband of 63 years, Don Klimpel; children, Andrew (Joan) Klimpel, Sara Logan; four grandchildren, Katie and Charlie Klimpel, Quinn and Allie Logan.
