Chase A. Peterson

August 26, 1980 — September 28, 2025

Chase Allen Peterson, age 45, of DeForest, Wisconsin, passed away on September 28, 2025, peacefully with family surrounding him.

Chase was born on August 26, 1980, in Madison to Jan and Galen Peterson. He was baptized at Burke Lutheran Church and remained a lifelong member. He grew up with a strong love for the outdoors and family traditions that carried throughout his life.

He is survived by his two beloved daughters, Brinley (15) and Avery (11), who were his pride and joy, and their mother and longtime friend, Megan Peterson. He is also survived by his parents, Jan and Galen; his sister, Brooke Peterson (Tom Munz Jr.); his Uncle Bert Peterson; his Aunts Bev Lange and Nancy (Bill) Schmidt; and many cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and by an Aunt Marilyn Wolff.

He attended Sun Prairie High School, where he played a variety of sports but especially loved basketball. He graduated with the class of 1999 before going on to attend UW–Eau Claire, where he earned a degree in Business. While in Eau Claire, he was grateful to be close to Iron River, where his Grandma Rose lived. He cherished the many visits with her and especially loved her cooking, which made those years even more meaningful. After college, Chase returned to the Sun Prairie/DeForest area, where he lived for the rest of his life. He was particularly proud to make his home on his grandparents’ farm, where he fully remodeled the house and built a life surrounded by the land and family history he cherished.

Chase dedicated over 22 years to Chase Lumber/Bliffert, most recently working as a lumber buyer. Known as “Chase from Chase Lumber,” he was respected for his honesty, work ethic, and commitment to his customers. He was a man of habits, starting each day early, working hard, and often being one of the last to leave the office. He valued the trust customers and coworkers placed in him over the years.

Outside of work, Chase was an avid outdoorsman and Badger basketball fan. He was especially proud of his bear hunt up north, the pheasant hunting trips with friends, and the bucks he harvested at “the farm.” He also enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball with friends and was always eating fresh vegetables from his garden. He loved spending time with his girls by taking side-by-side rides exploring the fields, fishing, hanging out in the hunting blinds, snowmobiling, and cheering them on at their sporting events-always decked out in the right gear. He also enjoyed attending midget races at Angel Park, quiet Sunday afternoons naps, and watching deer across the field with the binoculars.

Chase deeply loved his daughters and was so proud of the young women they are becoming. Those who knew him will remember the father, son, brother, nephew, and friend he was when he was well—devoted, kindhearted, and full of pride for his family.

A celebration of Chase’s life will be held at Cress Funeral home in Sun Prairie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be written for the benefit of Brinley and Avery to support their future.
