Charlyne Y. Lemberger, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 10, 1925 to Richard and Mabel Young of Sparta, Wisconsin.
As a young girl Char charmed all of Sparta with her dancing abilities. She was especially proud to be recognized by the local paper as that darling little miss of the tumbling team who captured more hearts in two nights than a Broadway siren could in her entire career.
Char graduated from the UW Madison with a degree in Speech Therapy.
She was a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority. While at the UW Char met the love of her life, August 'Gus' Lemberger and on June 30, 1947 they married. Together they raised seven children. Throughout their married life Gus and Char continued to be avid Badger fans.
Char loved to entertain, her pecan bars and apple dumplings are legendary. She had many passions that included interior decorating, playing the piano, singing, playing bridge, and needlework.
Char is survived by her seven children, Dr. Michael (Roseann) Lemberger of Spokane, Washington, Mary (Roger) Wright of Madison, Dr. Thomas (Ellen) Lemberger of Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Terrence (Lisa) Lemberger of Verona, Ann (Frederick) Kasten of Madison, Kathryn (Dennis) O'Keefe of Park City, Utah, and Peter (Amy) Lemberger of Madison; as well as 12 grandchildren, Andrew and Kevin Lemberger, Michael, Matthew (Jessica) and Timothy Williams, Adrienne and Benjamin Lemberger, Brian (Katy) and Erin O'Keefe, Megan, Jackson and Haley Lemberger; and two great-grandchildren, Jack and Alexa Williams. She is further survived by two sisters-in-law, Esther Weitekamp, and Cecilia (Patrick) Hawley. Char was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. August Lemberger; her parents; and a brother, Kenneth Young.
