Charlotte Speight

Charlotte Rae Speight (nee Wells), age 90, passed peacefully away Saturday, June 9, 2012, in Red Wing, Minnesota. Charlotte was born December 12, 1921 in Barrington, Illinois to R. D. and Esther (Kampert) Wells. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, R. D. and Esther, and her beloved husband Paul. Paul and Charlotte were united in marriage on January 26, 1946.
Charlotte retired from the State of Wisconsin, Employee Trust Division where she was an auditor. Charlotte held many positions over the years including the first female bank auditor for the Continental Bank in Chicago and children's librarian for Indian Trails School in Fox Point, Wisconsin. Charlotte graduated from Grinnell College in 1943 with a degree in economics where she met her husband Paul. Charlotte loved her children, entertaining, her bridge group, and her many friends and neighbors.
Charlotte is survived by her children Leslie Bell, Kent (Linda Thielbar), Mary (Robert) Spain, and grandchildren, Amy, Chris, Jennifer, Heather, Jeffery, Elizabeth, and great-grandchildren, Abraham, Anna, Kelsey, and Josie.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at FOREST HILL CEMETERY, 1 Speedway Road, Madison, WI 53705
