Charles Walter

Charles D. Walter, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. He was born on May 3, 1917, in Easton, IL, the son of Harold and Ethel (Steger) Walter. Charles was united in marriage to Fay Spink in Havana, IL on June 16, 1940.

Charles worked for Donaldson Manufacturing Company as a sales engineer for over 40 years until his retirement. He was a devoted member of the Masons and Elk's Club. In his spare time, Charles thoroughly enjoyed being a glider pilot, a world traveler and had a passion for playing the organ.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael (Karen) Walter and Marty Walter; his four grandchildren, Lance (Sue) Walter, Travis Walter, Danielle Walter, and Devin Walter; three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Mason and Brooke as well as his longtime companion, Betty Wagner. Charles is also survived by many other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fay Walter and his sister, Marjorie Conrad.

A celebration of Charles life will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2:00pm with Pastor Jerry Amstutz officiating. A time to gather will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 1:00pm until the time of services. Dress is casual. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
