Charlie Kozitzky of Middleton, WI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 23rd at the age of 63.
Born and raised in Philadelphia PA, Charlie was the son of Emily (Lewis) and Charles Kozitzky II. He moved to Madison, WI in the early 90’s. 1998 brought a whirlwind romance with wife Mary, and the two tied the knot within 6 months. Charlie immediately embraced family life with Mary and her daughter Taylor Anne. Within two years they were a family of 5, adding daughters Natalie and Mia; completing the family and life they dreamed of.
Throughout his career, Charlie lived out his values of caring for others by taking on roles including EMT, volunteer firefighter, and hospice nurse later in life. Despite a serious stroke at age 50, he continued to show up with his full heart and strength for family, friends, and neighbors who relied on him, including his in-laws who he supported in their later years and end of life.
Charlie was loved by all who met him, known for his quick wit, kindness, and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. His lifelong love of music and genuine curiosity about people allowed him to connect deeply with others from all walks of life.
A talented and passionate cook, Charlie delighted friends and family with both new creations and cherished favorites. He will be remembered for the warm, welcoming environment he created - filled with music, food, laughter, and heartfelt connection.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughters, Natalie, Mia, and Taylor; and his brother, Steve. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emily and Charles.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
