Madison - Charles W. Chapman, age 89, passed peacefully and set sail for paradise on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014. His daughter Deborah (John) Kaioula, and son Scott (Susan) Chapman were by his side to wish him farewell. He was preceded in death by his wife Harriett C. Chapman and parents Charles C. Chapman and Helen Chapman.
Charles (Chuck) was born in Milwaukee, WI June 27th, 1925. He lived most of his life in Wisconsin but after retiring spent many years in Dunedin, FL. During World War II he proudly enlisted and served our country as a member of the United States Air Force. He worked as a photographer in New York City, sold industrial bearings for Wisconsin Bearing Company, and traveled Wisconsin servicing corn dryers for American Corn Dryer Company. He and his wife Harriett also owned Chapman Construction. Together Chuck and Harriett designed and built several beautiful homes on the west side of Madison. He also worked for the Edgewater Hotel and part time for Toys R Us after retiring.
Chuck had a passion for boating. He spent many years entertaining family and friends on his boat the Shalom but his greatest joy in life was taking family and friends on Mississippi River houseboat trips.
A celebration of Charles's life will occur Saturday, Oct 11th, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the outdoor gazebo at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Rd, Madison (In the event of rain, the event will be at Bourbon Street Grill). Food and drinks to follow.
