Charlene K. Levenick

Charlene K. Levenick passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on August 8, 2026, at Agrace Hospice Care, Madison. She was born on February 1, 1929, in Madison, WI, the daughter of Bertrand and Lillian (Eldredge) Lampman. Charlene was the youngest of five children, graduating from Madison East High School in 1947. She married Palmer A. Levenick on October 17, 1953, at Plymouth Congregational Church, where she was a lifelong member. She served on many church committees and women’s groups, always willing to lend a hand where needed.

Charlene was employed by Demco Library Supplies for 20 years before becoming a homemaker raising her beloved daughter Linda. She had a passion for helping others, always putting their needs before her own as the caregiver for several family members.

Charlene and Palmer loved square dancing early in their marriage. Charlene was an accomplished seamstress making matching outfits for their square-dancing events, and many other items over the years. After Palmer passed away in 1984, Charlene took on all the yard work in addition to flower gardening and was still mowing her own lawn and snow blowing the driveway into her 80s.

Charlene enjoyed lifelong friendships with her high school girlfriends, anchored by monthly gatherings well into their senior years. She was also a sports fan who loved watching Badger and Packer football and attending many Badger hockey games.

Charlene loved spending time with family, especially her granddaughter Kaitlyn, always hosting holiday meals at her home. Although a homebody at heart, after retirement she went on two cruises to Jamacia and Hawaii. Going on day trips with the Theater Bus to events around Wisconsin was another favorite senior activity.

Charlene is survived by her daughter Linda (John) Schramer; granddaughter Kaitlyn Schramer; two step grandchildren Amanda (Jeremy) DeHaven and Matthew Schramer; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Palmer; sisters Marian (Calvin) Cooper and Betty (Fay) Williams; brothers Clifford (Dorothy) and Donald (Grace) Lampman; and many other dear friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held at Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison, WI, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Leslie Schenk presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Plymouth Congregational UCC. The family would like to thank the staff at Parkside Assisted Living and Agrace Hospice for their compassionate care.
