Catherine E. (Betty) Drenning, age 91, died on Monday morning, September 25, 2017 in Madison, Wisconsin. She was born September 8, 1926 in Milton Junction, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clifford and Catherine (Vickerman) Wixom. She married James (Jim) Drenning in 1953 and had one daughter, Vicki Drenning.
Betty worked at Bergstrom Paper Company in Neenah, Wisconsin as a secretary for 20 years. When they retired, she and Jim moved to Keowee Key, South Carolina. Throughout her life Betty had an active lifestyle. She excelled at sports, winning bowling tournaments in her younger days, and golfing several times a week until she was almost ninety. Until her health declined in the past year, she walked at least 2 miles every day. She also enjoyed playing bridge and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Besides her daughter Vicki, Betty is survived by two grandsons, Shawn (Kristen) Drenning and Evan (Amy) Drenning; one brother, Paul Wixom; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim; three brothers, Thomas, Robert, and Eugene Wixom; and two sisters, Irene Hart and Virginia Driscoll.
A memorial service will be held at St. Mary Cemetery in Milton, Wisconsin, date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or World Wildlife Fund, causes Betty supported all her life. Please share a memory.
