Caroline Meier

Waunakee- Caroline "Carrie" Meier, age 93, passed away on February 28, 2018 at Waunakee Manor. She was born on April 17, 1924, to Anton J. & Katherine (Kalscheuer) Acker in Ashton, the youngest of seven children. She married Leonard Meier on August 24, 1946, at St Peter's Church in Ashton.
Mom was a wonderful example of a life well-lived; she was especially devoted to taking loving care of our Dad. She was a very talented, thoughtful and hard working woman who always enjoyed a good game of cards and visitors. Mom & Dad started out farming until 1960 when they moved back to Ashton. They owned the meat market in Waunakee and after selling that she cleaned houses. For many years she cooked for funeral dinners and ran the kitchen for the fish fries at Ashton along with Evie Acker. She was a volunteer for many organizations and groups. Mostly mom loved to garden, quilt, do puzzles, and a variety of other things. In 2004 she was awarded the Senior Center's Citizen of the Year Award which she was very proud of. Carrie was a woman of deep faith.
Carrie is survived by her children: Vern, Dick (Linda), Jan (Dave) Barman, Jeanne (Bruce) Miller and Jim (Deb). Grandchildren: Mike (Carrie), Mandi, Scott (Sue), Sara (Jim), Stuart (Heidi), Greg, Ken (Kira), Jeff, Maggie, Ted, Jay & Jared and 10 great-grandchildren. Her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Ellen Acker, Dellie Endres, Fr LaVerne Meier, Sue Meier, Charlotte & Joe Dorn. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, granddaughter Jessica, brothers and sisters, John V (Bernadette) Acker, Albert (Lorraine) Acker, Dorothy (Leo) Ballweg, Syl Acker, Martha (Edmund) Schwarz, Priscilla (Arnold) Karls, in-laws, Cyril (Margaret) Meier, Marilyn (Greg) Acker, Bob Endres and Joe Meier.
The family would like to thank Dr Ranum & Staff, Waunakee Manor & Staff, Agrace Hospice, and all of her caring neighbors and friends for their support.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 209 South St. Waunakee, WI 53597, on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 11:00 am, with Monsignor James Gunn presiding. A visitation will be held at Winn-Cress Funeral Home, 5785 Hwy Q, Waunakee, WI 53597, on Sunday March 4, 2018 from 1-4 pm, as well as at church on Monday one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations to the American Diabetes Assn, Lions Club or Agrace Hospice are preferred.
