Carole Ann Stangler, 92, of Sun Prairie passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Carole was born on September 18, 1933 in Waunakee to Werner and Christine (Uebersetzig) Bernards. She attended St. John’s Catholic School in Waunakee. She was united in marriage to Ray Stangler on October 3rd, 1959 and together they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith and love. She was a faithful charter member at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Sun Prairie. Prior to raising four children, Carole was employed at the State of Wisconsin.
Carole enjoyed volunteering at church and The Sunshine Place.
Her interests included watching Wisconsin sports – especially watching her great grandchildren play sports, bowling league, playing cards with friends and family especially her Thursday card playing ladies; Molly, Jean and Francine, camping, spending time up north at her cottage since 1980, traveling, being the family historian with all of her 35mm slide film and most of all spending time with family.
Carole is survived by her daughter, Lynn Stangler; grandchildren, Kiley (Ryan) Wagner, Casey (Mollie) Jesberger; great-grandchildren, Levi Wagner, Briley Wagner, Greydon Wagner, Rogan Wagner, Carson Jesberger, Selah Jesberger; sister, Jenne (Bob) Weichmann; furry companion, Auggie; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ray Stangler; son, Tim Dobson; siblings, Paul Bernards, Bonnie Meyer, Joyce Dobson, Thomas Bernards, Pauline Bernards; and many in-laws.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 11AM on Friday, July 24, 2026 at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church. A visitation will take place from 9:30AM until the time of mass. A burial will take place immediately following mass. Guests are encouraged to wear their best Wisconsin Badger, Milwaukee Brewer or Green Bay Packers gear.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association
The family would like to give special thanks to the amazing staff at Moments Hospice for the excellent care she received in her last days here on this heavenly earth; especially Wendy, Cherise, Jordan, Haily, Rhianna and Kelly.
