Carole Mcgee

Carole L. Saunders McGee passed away peacefully in January of 2023 at the age of 88 in Stoughton, WI.

Carole was born in July of 1934 to Joseph F. Saunders and N. Mildred (McMahan) Saunders in Fort Wayne, IN. Carole graduated from Cleburne (TX) High School and Indiana State University. She earned her Master’s degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Carole was very passionate about education. She spent many years as a business teacher, and then as a guidance counselor, and finished her career as the administrative assistant to the superintendent at Glencoe (IL) schools. After her retirement, she worked as the secretary at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Carole was an active member of PEO.

Carole spent her sunset years in Fontana, WI where she attended Linn Presbyterian Church and was able to be closer to family. During this time of her life, she spent a lot of time traveling and participated in several river cruises throughout Europe and the Mediterranean. Throughout her life, Carole enjoyed entertaining, spending time with family, and playing bridge.

Carole is survived by daughter Janice (Bud) Betts, sister Lois Rogers, daughter-in-law Gwen Stone, grandchildren Kyla and Mindy Betts and Kevin and Rebecca Stone, and several nephews. She is preceded in death by parents Joseph and Mildred Saunders, son W. Michael Stone, and sister Karin Carter.

Carole’s family would like to thank the teams at Golden Years in Walworth, WI; McFarland Villa in McFarland, WI; Kettle Park in Stoughton, WI and Agrace Hospice for the excellent care and comfort provided to Carole in her final years.
