Carol Schmitt

December 17, 1940 — May 31, 2015

DANE-Carol Schmitt, age 74, died on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at American Way Assisted Living in Portage. Carol was born in Roxbury on Dec. 17, 1940, to Carl and Leontina (Breunig) Fassbender. She married Earl Schmitt in 1960, and he preceded her in death in 2006. Carol grew up in Roxbury and graduated from Sauk Prairie High School where she was class valedictorian. She was employed at Dane County Human Services until her retirement. She also worked many years at the Lodi Golf Course. She enjoyed her card club, quilting, and the sport of curling with her husband, Earl.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Mark) Fraker; six grandsons, Allan, Brandon and Clayton Fraker and Jason (Sharron), Justin (Lindsey) and Adam (Sara) Wipperfurth; 3 great-grandchildren, Avery, Evelyn and Chloe; son-in-law, Leon (Michelle) Wipperfurth; sister, Joanne Frederick; and four brothers, Clifford, Richard (Eleanor), Jack (Ellie) and Leroy Fassbender. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; three daughters, Jean Wipperfurth, Nancy and Amy Schmitt; a grand-daughter, Heidi; a sister, Janet; and two brothers, Leon and Raymond.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish, St Michael's Church, Dane. Rev Chad Droessler will officiate. Friends may call on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at the Winn-Cress Funeral Home in Waunakee from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
