Madison -- Carol May Henning, age 82, of Madison, passed away with her family by her side Sunday, May 22, 2016. She was born in Victory, Wisconsin and lived most of her life in Madison. Carol had boundless energy. She could be a poster woman for how to live a full life right to the end being strong, brave and stoic through her battle with cancer. She knit over 6,000 baby hats for Meriter Hospital, played bridge several times a week with friends, went to an exercise class, gardened and made the best cherry pie, chocolate chip cookies and buns, to name a few of her goodies. She would often say, "If I feel a nap coming on I go make cookies". It was the best surprise to find warm cookies waiting on the passenger seat of your car or doorstep that she had delivered.
She is survived by two of her children, Tom (Sandi) Henning, Kim (Richard Rice) Stokes; grandchildren, Andy (Aom) Stokes, Steve (Lindsey Walker) Stokes, Sunny (Kyle Russell) Stokes, Carly Henning, Brittni Henning; and the "Apples of my Eye"-her great grandchildren, Damian and Danika. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Jack) Henning a son James (Jim) Henning, and a grandson Jimmy.
"Grandma" was a selfless, courageous, and a one-of-kind grandmother, friend, and mom who will be dearly missed by all.
