Carol Jean Hanson

Middleton- Carol Jean Hanson, age 93, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Brookdale in Middleton. She was born in Manitowoc on September 1, 1931, the daughter of Herbert and Cora Gauger.

Carol grew up in Manitowoc Rapids and enjoyed spending her summers in Door County working at orchards and at Tagge's Tavern. She graduated from Manitowoc High School in 1950.

On July 28, 1958 Carol married Giles "Bud" Hanson. Together they moved to Denver, CO for two years while Bud completed his masters in Social work. While in Denver, Carol loved working at Columbia Records.

In 1967 Carol and Bud adopted their son John and raised him in Kewaunee.

After 28 years Carol and Bud finally fulfilled a dream and became Green Bay Packer season ticket holders, they enjoyed attending and traveling to many Packers games.

In 2008 Carol moved to Madison to be closer to her family. She settled at the Whitcomb apartments where she quickly became part of the Whitcomb ladies group. Daily life continued for Carol with the help of her son's in-laws, Denny and Cindy Raffill and Ian Perrin.

In 2021 Carol's final move placed her at Brookdale in Middleton where she remained comfortable and well cared for.

Carol is survived by her son, John (Debbie) Hanson; and three nephews, Todd, Scott, and Ross Gauger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud; and brother, William "Bill" (Rita) Gauger.

According to Carol's wishes there will be no services.
