Carol A. Overland

Stoughton – Carol A. Overland, age 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, after a short stay at the Skaalen Home in Stoughton. She was born on August 21, 1946, to the late William and Martha (Deja) Doherty.

Carol was married to Edwin Floyd Overland until his passing in 1986. They shared a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to their family. Carol went on to work for many years in the print shop at American Family Insurance as a talented Graphic Designer, where she was known for her creativity and eye for detail.

Carol was active in the community, volunteering her time and talents for St. Vincent de Paul of Stoughton, the Yahara Elementary School library, and of course, her church, St. Ann’s of Stoughton, to name a few.

After retiring, Carol fulfilled a dream she had shared with her late husband and hit the road with her RV. She found great joy and freedom in the RV lifestyle. She loved traveling the country, taking in the beauty of the open road—revisiting places from her youth with her grandchildren tagging along, or discovering new ones. Her beloved dog, Scotty, was her constant companion on these adventures—a faithful friend who shared in every mile and memory, from Arizona to Washington in the West, across the country to Washington D.C. in the East, and so many places in between.

She is survived by her two sons, Joseph (Joe) Overland and his wife Vivian, and James (Jim) Overland and his wife Kim; her beloved grandchildren, Brandi, Casey, and Andrew (Andy) (children of Joe and Vivian), and Hunter and McKenna (children of Jim and Kim); McKenna’s fiancé, Trent; and Andrew’s family, wife Lillian and son Jasper. She is further survived by her stepchildren, Mark Overland and Cathy (Overland) Vale, as well as many extended family members and friends who will fondly remember her warm heart, independent spirit, and adventurous soul.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edwin, her daughter Pamela Jo, and her brother Joe Doherty.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Cress Funeral Home, 206 W. Prospect St., Stoughton. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service. A luncheon will follow at the Stoughton VFW, 200 Veterans Rd, Stoughton, WI 53589.
