Oregon - Carl C. Punswick, age 90, entered Eternal Life on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. He was born on May 31, 1924 in Black Earth, WI to the late Erling and Ellen Punswick. After graduating from Black Earth High School, Carl served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. While he was in the Army, he met and married the love of his life, Helen Tillman. Together they had nine children. Carl worked as a farmhand and cook as he and Helen raised their family. In his later years, Carl enjoyed Bluegrass and Gospel music. He also enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren, joining his friends for cruises down the Mississippi River, and above all, spending time with his family. Carl had a joyous spirit that was contagious, and he spread joy from The Oregon Manor to the doctors and nurses at the hospital and everyone else he met.
Carl was preceded in death by a son, Richard, a grandson, Andrew Lynch, Carl's first wife Helen Punswick (Tillman), Carl's second wife, Daisy Punswick (Huff), and seven of his siblings.
Survivors include eight children; Ellen (the late Ron) Broughman, Janet (the late Dennis) Stevens, Roger, David, Pam, Donna, Steven, and Scott (Ruth) Punswick; twenty one grandchildren, twenty one great- grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, one sister; Janet Schmock and a brother, Edward Punswick.
Family and friends may call at Midvale Baptist Church (821 South Midvale Blvd, Madison, WI 53711) on Monday, January 26, 2015. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Carl will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens following the funeral, with military honors taking place.
