Carl Richard Hoff

October 26, 1922 — February 2, 2011

Carl Richard Hoff, Sr., age 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Fort Atkinson.   He was born in Stoughton on October 16, 1922, a son of Carl F. and Louise (Peterson) Hoff.   He was united in marriage to Donna Klein in San Antonio, Texas on February 2, 1948.   Carl graduated form Stoughton High School in 1942, where he was active in boxing and football.   Carl was a WWII Veteran who served his country in the military for 23 years, and was very proud of his service.   Carl started out in the Navy, serving in the South Pacific Theater, re-enlisting in the Army Air Corps, and serving the rest of his career in the Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1965.   In addition to the South Pacific, Carl served in Korea, Turkey, as a recruiter in Pennsylvania, and as a training instructor at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.   Later he worked as a correctional officer, retiring from that, he went to work with the Montello School District and retired from the district as well.   While working, Carl also grew tobacco for a time.   He was a member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the VFW, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a Brewers and Packers fan.   Carl loved spending time with his family, especially with children and grandchildren.   He is survived by his wife, Donna; 7 children, Ron ( Nancy) Hoff, Sharon (Jim) Luchsinger, Lloyd (Sandi) Hoff, Pat (Phil) Anderson, Carl (JoAnn) Hoff, Jr., Tim (Darcie) Hoff, and Jeff (Amy) Hoff; 21 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Rubin, Charles (Florence) and Bill Hoff.   He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Earl, Oscar, and Robert Hoff; sisters, Virginia Skavlen West, Lucille George, Ruth Nelson, Dorothy Osterburg, Loraine Holcomb, and Betty Ree; and his mother and father in law.   Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 1:00pm at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton, where the family will greet friends from 11:00 am until the time of service.   Luncheon at the VFW Hall in Stoughton will follow services.
