Carisa Stanek

Sun Prairie - Carisa J. Stanek, age 40, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at her home in Sun Prairie. She was born in Madison, Wisconsin on August 21, 1976, the daughter of Danny and Karen (Gwin) Stanek. Carisa graduated from Sun Prairie High School in 1994 and was all conference in soccer. She got her Bachelors in History at UW Whitewater. She enjoyed traveling, the outdoors and visiting state capitols. She was a huge packer fan. Carisa was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Madison. Our daughter, sister and aunt left this world too early but fought with so much strength and courage. Her beauty and laughter will be missed by many.

She is survived by her parents, Danny and Karen Stanek; sisters, Tanya Brown (Frank Kuhn), Dana (Tom) Groh; nieces, Megan and Emily Brown; nephews, Adam, Eric and Aaron Groh who were the center of her joy.

She was preceded in death by grandparents Robert and Marriam Stanek, Harold Gwin, Marilou Carpenter; great-grandparent Ella Parker and cousin Parker Beauchamp.

A visitation will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 1310 Emerald Terrace, Sun Prairie, on Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a short prayer service to follow. Burial will be on Friday, February 17th at 11:00 a.m. At St John's Catholic Cemetery E16117 St Johns Ave in rural Hillsboro WI. A celebration of Carisa's life will be held on Saturday, February 18th at Buck & Honeys, 804 Liberty Blvd, Sun Prairie, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. light lunch to be provided.

We would like to thank all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff that were part of Carisa's care over the years. The staff of Agrace Hospice will hold a special place in our hearts for the wonderful care and compassion given to Carisa and our family. A special thank you to Lisa Girdharry, Jenny (Deitte) Von Gergen and Michelle (Morton) Fuss for your friendship and love that meant so much to Carisa.
