MADISON -Byron G. Jevne, age 92, passed away peacefully June 9, 2017, on a beautiful full moon night at Agrace. He was born on July 24, 1924 in Meridean, WI, to Gilbert and Bessie (Erickson) Jevne. He graduated from Durand High School. In Eau Claire, Byron met the love of his life, Muriel Cain. In 1942, he enlisted in the Navy and served two years in the ship repair unit at Bremerton, WA. He became a prominent builder in the Madison area of over 350 homes, many in the Hilldale and Odana Hills neighborhoods. Perhaps you reside in one. He was also a broker and land developer for the area known as Belmar Hills.

Byron had many interests including hunting, bowling, skiing, snowmobiling, flying and most of all golfing. Nicknamed "Iron Byron", he was proud to have shot a Hole-in-One. On his 40th birthday, he entered and won a Demolition Derby in his old green '48 Dodge. He was a pilot and enjoyed several hunting trips flying out west with friends. He remained healthy and active in sports beyond his years, continuing to downhill ski until he was 88 and golfed until he was 91. In addition, Byron and Muriel raised 5 children. He was a well-liked, self-made man. Byron was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Madison's Builders Association and the Commonwealth Lodge 325. He was the last man standing of 11 siblings.
