Burton Zipperer

Sun Prairie - Burton Earle Zipperer, age 85 passed away suddenly on Friday, July 12, 2013. He was born on August 9, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Paul and Lillian Rose (Becker) Zipperer. He attended college at the University of Platteville. In 1952, Burton was united in marriage to Carol Holt and together they raised four beautiful children. Burton proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. Music was a love, a passion and often filled Burton's home. He was a piano player and tuner for many years. Burton was an actor and co-founder of the Sun Prairie Civic Theatre. He also was a talented artist that attended the Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. Burton was a faithful and devoted member of Sun Prairie United Methodist Church, where he sang, directed the choir and was found tuning the church pianos. On September 18, 1999, Burton married the love of his late life, Ursula Kauppinen. Burton will be dearly missed by all who's lives he touched and knew.
Burton is survived by Ursula Kauppinen; his four children, Jeffrey Zipperer, Andrew (Sue) Zipperer, Susan (Taunya Jerrigan) Zipperer and John (Kin Tso) Zipperer; two step-children, Malia Mohan and James (Kristine) Kauppinen; five grandchildren, Jacob, Ashley, Shannon, Sean and Erin, a sister-in-law, Jo Anne Zipperer and three nieces, Kathy (Darrel) Kerbel, Lorri (Ross) Vigneres and Chris Zipperer. He is also survived by many loving family and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Paul Zipperer and James Zipperer.
Memorial services will be held at SUN PRAIRIE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 702 North Street, Sun Prairie on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 11:00 am with Reverend Frank Gaylord officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 am until the time of services.
The family would like to thank Reverend Gaylord, Reverend Carlson and Reverend Stein and Prairie Gardens for all their love and care given to Burton and his family.
