DeForest - Bruce Wayne Stengel, age 71, peacefully passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017.
Bruce was born September 12, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri to Norvell and Irene (Rolfingsmeyer) Stengel. On January 21, 1966, Bruce was united in marriage to Connie Sue Johnson in St. Louis, where they lived before settling in Wisconsin.
Bruce proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked as a food processing equipment engineer, first at Banquet Foods, then for Oscar Mayer. Bruce was also a Boy Scout leader, and was very involved in his faith community in the LDS Church. In his free time, Bruce greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing, sailing, especially chartering sailboats up around Door County.
Bruce is survived by his wife of fifty years; Connie, children; Keith (Heather) Stengel of Cambridge, Jason (Amanda) Stengel of Edgerton, and Carrie (Don) Schultz of Mt. Horeb, grandchildren; Aiden, Collin, Lauren, Ethan, Alexis, Makayla, and Gavin; brothers; Norvell, and Kenneth Stengel, and sister; Linda (Jim) Carmickle all of Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6651 Prairie View Dr, Sun Prairie WI 53590, with Bishop Jacob Hatch presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
