Brent Arthur Wallace, age 67, passed away July 3, 2025, surrounded by his family at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI after undergoing cancer treatment for six years. He was born October 29, 1957, to Fay and Gabriele (Leddermann) Wallace in Wyandotte, MI. Growing up, Brent was busy delivering newspapers before school and wrestling. He graduated from Trenton High School in 1975. Brent met his wife Suzanne of 44 years at General Motors. Seeing Suzanne’s chemistry and math books, Brent discovered his passion for math and problem solving. He then graduated from University of Michigan in 1988 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Brent’s curiosity and sense of adventure took the family to San Diego, CA for a job at Sony before settling down in his true hometown—Madison, WI. For the last 27 years, Brent worked for the State of Wisconsin and University of Wisconsin-Madison in various engineering roles. Notorious for being kind and thoughtful, Brent was always willing to dive in and solve any problem.
Brent's true gift was being a loving father and husband. He spent sleepless nights with his four children helping them cram for math and physics tests. He would send his daughters their favorite candy every Valentine’s day. He was a recreational inventor and could fix anything. He worked tirelessly renovating the family’s 120-year-old home. He was a lifelong and year-round cyclist despite the frigid Wisconsin winters. Several years ago, Brent bought a truck camper and loved taking road trips with Suzanne. Although a Wolverine by birth, Brent switched alliances to become a badger fan after living blocks from Camp Randall and attending games with his children.
Brent is survived by his wife Suzanne; children, Reid (Melissa), Beth (Jonathan) Karli, Hilary (Itamar) Marques, and Lisa Wallace; his beloved grandchildren, Walter, Louise, Ivy, and Zoe; his brother Pete (Suzanne) Wallace and sister Allyson (Patrick) Zanetti; and sweet dog Winnie and cat Nina. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity of Dane County or UW Health Carbone Cancer Center. The family is planning a tribute to Brent to be held in the fall.
