Deerfield - William H. Peters, age 93, passed away on Wednesday December 9, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. He was born on December 22, 1921 in Walworth, Wisconsin, the son of Carl and Clara (Timming) Peters.
Bill went to school and graduated from Walworth High School. He attended one year of college, studying accounting, and was soon drafted and served his country proudly in World War II. He was stationed in the South Pacific, New Guinea and the Phillipines. Bill met his wife Marge after returning from war. They were married on August 20, 1949 in Deerfield. They have 3 children, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. He worked as an accountant for many years working for the local Creamery, Sta-Rite, Gullickson's and Deerfield Transport. He was on the school board for 10 years in the 60s and 70s, and was the treasurer for the Deerfield Lutheran Church for 35 years. Bill was a founding member of the Deerfield Rod and Gun Club and served as treasurer for 25 years. Bill was a member of the American Legion Draeger-Fencil Post 260 and In November of 2011 he went on the Badger Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He was a sports enthusiast and avid golfer and long time member of Lake Ripley Country Club. He enjoyed his weekly card games and friendships at the Deerfield Community Center.
Bill is survived by his wife Marge, 3 children Debbie Borzewski (friend Richard Mowris), David Peters (friend Shirley Labate), Diane Rivers (Randy), 5 grandchildren; William, Casey, Dean, Sean, and Darren, and 3 great grandchildren; Sunny, Weston, and Brayden. He is also survived by his sister Genevieve Wainwright, and brother Reg Peters (Eloyse).
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marie (Russell) Knull, and brother in-law Richard Wainwright.
Bill lived a very full life with many encounters and much joy and was very thankful for all of them.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Deerfield Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Deerfield Lutheran Church, 206 S Main St, Deerfield, with Pastor Larry Sexe presiding. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of services on Saturday. Bill will be laid to rest at Deerfield Lutheran Cemetery with full Military Honors. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately following the services.
