Beverly Kessler

May 3, 1931 — January 27, 2016

Deerfield- Beverly A. Kessler, age 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 27, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 3, 1931, to Walter and Esther (Nelson) Draeger. Beverly grew up on the family farm and attended Deerfield Schools. On November 5, 1949, she married Carroll "Pete" Kessler at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church. For years they worked the family farm with her parents. Beverly also worked with Pete and her son Wally operating "Pete's Never Inn." Other favorite jobs included working at the Dept. of Agriculture and making wreaths every Christmas season. Beverly was a very hard working woman who loved her family dearly and always had a warm smile on her face. She very much enjoyed laughter and conversations with her family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and customers. Her face always lit up when one of her "boys" entered the room. Beverly suffered from the debilitating and progressive Alzheimer's disease for the past 8 years, from which she is now free. We will always love and truly miss her! Beverly is survived by her children, Diana (Don) Imhoff, James Kessler, and Beth (Patrick) Annen; eight grandchildren, Denise (Jake) Reno, Debra (Jason Landphier) Imhoff, Danielle (Corey) Randl, James Kessler Jr., Angie (Paul) Lira, Justin Annen, Nicole Annen, and Haley Kessler; five great grandchildren, Maximilian Reno, Maizie Reno, Trenton Imhoff, Liliana Randl, and Kendra Randl; her brother-in-law, Solon Pierce; friend and caregiver, Jinja Nonn; and former daughter-in-law, Coleen Kessler Lutz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Pete; her son, Walter W. "Wally" Kessler; her sister, Bonnie Pierce; and her brother, Capt. Walter F. Draeger Jr. (still listed as MIA Vietnam War 1965). Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church, 3494 Oak Park Road, Deerfield, with Rev. Holly Slater officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of services Saturday at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Liberty Lutheran Church. The hardest thing is watching someone you love forget they love you. Please share your memories of Beverly.
