Beverly A. Dahl, 86, of Deerfield passed away peacefully on April 23 at University Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to George and Lillian Wilhelm on March 4, 1939 in Sauk County, Wisconsin. Beverly moved to Deerfield when she was 9 years old. She graduated from Deerfield High School in 1957, with honors. She met the love of her life, Norman “Pogo” Dahl, on April 19, 1957. They married on June 28, 1958. Together, they raised 2 fine boys, Curtis “Curt” and Eric, both of Deerfield. After retirement she also helped to care for her grandson, Norman Dahl, of Madison.
Beverly was a caring, loving woman who touched the lives of many. She worked for the State of Wisconsin for 35 years. She also volunteered her time. She served as a poll worker with her husband for 20 years. She volunteered with the Church Ladies serving lunches at funerals. Alongside Pogo and Mike & Dorothy Loftus, Beverly was a co-founder of the Deerfield Historical Society. She also served as the secretary for 36 years.
She enjoyed antiquing, driving around with Cindi and Tom Gotthart. She was a collector of cups & saucers, crystal bells, and dolls. She loved everything pink. Beverly and Pogo also enjoyed travelling. They have been all across the country visiting friends, Nashville 14 times as she loved Country music, and they even went to Guatemala 5 times to visit their son.
Among all the beautiful things that Beverly will be remembered for, she will be remembered as a great cook and best salad maker ever. She was known for her potato salad. It was expected that she would bring that to any cookout or potluck she ever attended.
Beverly was proceeded in death by her parents and her brother, Melbourne “Buzz” Wilhelm. She is survived by her loving husband, Pogo, her sons Curt (Thuong) and Eric (Debi). Her grandson Norman (Samantha), granddaughter Amanda, of Stoughton, and great-grandson, Christopher, of Madison. Her brother Bob (Marlene) of Sparta, and sister Rita, of Deerfield, as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends Cindi and Tom of Wild Rose, and her loving cat, Tina.
The family would like to thank Deer-Grove EMS, the Deerfield Fire Department, and the care teams at University Hospital ED and TLC. Beverly received the absolute best treatment and was treated with dignity and respect. The care and compassion shown by everyone meant so much. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Deerfield Lutheran Church steeple fund.
