STOUGHTON--Betty Elaine Neath, age 70 passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
Betty was born in Stoughton on February 19, 1943 to Edwin and Borghild (Olson) Swangstu. She attended Stoughton High School. On May 21, 1960 she was united in marriage to Robert J. Neath. He preceded her in death on September 24, 1997.
Betty has been a lifelong resident of Stoughton. She worked at Skaalen Home for 37 years until her retirement. She was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church and the Stoughton American Legion Auxiliary. Betty was an avid cross-stitcher and baseball fan. Most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Betty will be dearly missed by her children Sherri (Dino) Bratz, Cindy (David) Ramsden, Robert Jr. (Leslie) Neath; grandchildren: Tara, Michael, Alyson, Justin, Brittany, Luke, Erik, and Ellie; great-granddaughter, Braelynn; sisters and brothers: Darline (Rudy) Butler, Sonny (Linda) Swangstu, Liz Dollar, Donald Swangstu, and Richard Swangstu; and sister-in-law, Rita Johnson. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Robert; and 3 brothers, Roger, Eugene, and Edward.
Funeral services will be held at Noon at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren St., Stoughton on Thursday, October 10, 2013 with Reverend Mark Petersen officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 4 until 7 p.m. at Cress Funeral Home, Stoughton and on Thursday at church one hour prior to service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery followed by a luncheon at church.
In lieu of other expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Covenant Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society in Betty's name.
