Betty Menick

Sun Prairie - Betty L Menick, age 84, passed away on March 24, 2017, at New Perspective (Lighthouse) in Sun Prairie. She was born on January 3, 1933, in Westgate, Iowa, the daughter of George and Blanche (Rueber) Lehmkuhl. Betty was employed by the FBI office in Washington D.C. where she met Ronald who was stationed at nearby Bolling AFB. Betty married Ronald Menick on July 3, 1954, in Washington D.C. After raising five children and traveling the world with Ronald they settled down in Sun Prairie where she was later employed by Wisconsin Public Power Inc. Betty was a member of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Sun Prairie where she cooked many wedding meals and assisted with the Sunday night Bingo concession stand. She also was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and gardening and was devoted caregiver for her husband Ronald prior to his passing in 2013.

She is survived by her four daughters, Patricia Menick (Gary Anderson), Teresa (John) Matthews, Lisa Menick, Mary Ann Menick (Tony Dollak); one son, Dennis (Daniela) Menick; six grandchildren, John, John Aaron, Allison, Donovan, Trevor and Dustin and two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Elizabeth; brothers, Dick (Dorothy), Bill and Alfred (Mary); sisters, Linda (Darrell Smith), Nellie (Tony Grasso) and Barb Stortz; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Ronald, brothers Gene Lehmkuhl, Bob Lehmkuhl, sister-in-laws Helen Lehmkuhl, Verla Lehmkuhl and brother-in-law Tom Stortz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Donn Heiar presiding. Burial will follow at Sun Prairie Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the mass.
