Bertha Mae Duckert, age 94, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. She was born on October 1, 1920 in Middleton to William and Mabel ( Stace) Squire.
Bertha was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, Miles Duckert on June 20, 1941 at the Manse at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. Bertha attended Bailey School as a child with her brothers and sisters. She graduated from Madison East High School in 1939. After she married Miles, Bertha worked at Oscar Mayer and the Sun Prairie Telephone Company. Her final job was a supervisor at the Wisconsin Cheeseman from 1960- 1983. After she retired, she belonged to the Legion Auxillary for 35 years. Bertha also enjoyed painting, rosemaling, quilting and playing her organ.
She is survived by her husband Miles of 74 years; son Dale ( Connie) Duckert, Omaha, NE; daughters Colleen ( Jim) Cavalluzzi, Big Bend and Karen ( Bob) Hutson, North Carolina; grandchildren Dennis ( Sandi) Duckert , Omaha, NE, Brendan Hutson, North Carolina and Bradley Hutson, USAF, stationed in Germany; 3 great- grandchildren Jodi, Jami and Nicholas Duckert of Omaha, NE; sisters Edith Fillner, California and Laura Moore; sister in laws Maureen Duckert and Joanne Squire and dear friend Mary Ripp. Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Leonard, William, Harold and Don.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends from church.
A funeral service for Bertha will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 12:30pm at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 229 N. Main Street in Cottage Grove. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of service on Saturday at the church.
