Bernard Feder

Bernard Feder died at age 89 on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 in Madison after a brief illness. He was born in the Bronx, NY on March 31, 1924. Bernie grew up in New York City, served in the U.S. Army during the final phase and after the end of the second World War, and received a BA in accounting from City College of New York after the war. He moved from New Jersey to Colorado in 2005, to Wisconsin in 2012, and was a resident at the Capitol Lakes retirement community, where he participated in many cultural and civic activities. Bernie is survived by his beloved wife of fifty eight years, Judith Salwen Feder; his daughter, Elizabeth Feder and son-in-law, Mark Johnson of Madison; his cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Nora Feder-Johnson; and by his brother, Fred Feder of Asheville, NC; and sister, Charlotte Zorn of Albany, NY. Bernie faced his acute and sudden illness with grace and the quiet courage that characterized his long and full life, and he will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison TODAY, Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Beit Olamim Cemetery in Sunset Memory Gardens, 7302 Mineral Point Road, Madison.
