Madison: Bernard O. Jaeger, DDS, age 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Bernard lived a long and inspired life. He enjoyed helping his patients and made sure their smiles were both functional and beautiful. He got great satisfaction knowing that he made someone feel better and relieved their pain. Bernard shared his quick wit and gentle smile with ease. He could make any plant bloom.
Bernard grew up in Astico, near Columbus, WI, assisting his dad and uncle milling flour. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in chemical engineering and used his skills during WWII on behalf of the military. This experience lit his entrepreneurial spirit and he decided to use his compassion and intellect to create his own career. He met Florence Strauel and knew she was the one. They married in 1950, while Bernard was a student at Marquette Dental School and together raised four children Fred, Mary, Cathie and Ami. He taught his children that perfection comes through practice and discipline.
Bernard and Florence met many challenges together and shared their love and joy with their children and grandchildren, Alexander, Quinn, Samuel and Edith. Bernard provided good counsel and encouragement, and spread his love of music. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, served as President of Dane Co Dental Society and WI Dental Study Club, and was active in many committees of the WI Dental Association. He was a student and scholar.
Bernard will be greatly missed, especially by Florence. His family will nurture his memory, and ensure that his legacy will radiate health, kindness and gentleness.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:30 am on Friday, July 22, 2016 at OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, WI 53711. There will be a Rosary Service at 10:00 am, and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 11:30 am at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Bernard Jaeger Memorial Fund will be forwarded to a WI children's dental clinic. Please share your memory.
